Frequently Asked Questions
Got a question or just feel like saying hello? We'd genuinely love to hear from you. You can contact us through our Contact page or send us an email directly. We are here to help and promise we'll do our best to sort things out quickly.
A small favor: start your message with "Hi Ry" or "Hi Ru" Why? Because we are secretly keeping scores. The winner gets bragging rights, and the loser has to pretend they are not checking the tally. So choose wisely.
We read every message ourselves, and yes, we are absolutely counting.
We don't have a permanent boutique (yet). You will find us online and popping up at selected markets across South East Queensland, particularly around the Gold Coast. The best way to know where we will be next is to follow us on Instagram. We love meeting people in person and seeing which pieces find their way home.
We dispatch all orders within 1–2 business days. Once your order has been shipped, delivery times will vary depending on your location. You will receive a tracking number as soon as your order is on its way.
Every screen displays color differently, so slight variations between photographs and the physical garment may occur. We do our very best to represent colors accurately.
Yes! We offer free shipping on orders over $150 Australia-wide. If your order total reaches $150 or more, shipping is on us.
We are based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
We aim to use natural and breathable fabrics wherever possible. Fabric compositions are listed on each product page so you can make an informed choice.
Each product page includes a detailed size guide. If you are between sizes, we generally recommend choosing the size that aligns with your preferred fit. Many of our styles are intentionally relaxed and designed for comfort.
Care instructions are provided on the garment label and product page, but Ru has a few Care Notes of her own. Her philosophy is simple: treat your clothes like friends. If you look after them, they'll stay with you for a long time.
- Wash by color - Blues with blues, whites with whites, darks with darks.
- Choose a gentle detergent - A mild, planet-friendly liquid detergent is best. Skip bleach and harsh stain removers where possible (unless a stubborn mark on a white piece leaves you no choice).
- Turn garments inside out - Especially for printed or dyed styles. It helps protect color and keeps prints looking fresh.
- Don't overload the machine - If your washer says 8kg, pretend it said 6kg. Fabrics need room to move, rinse, and breathe.
- Hand wash or use a delicate cycle - Be extra kind to lightweight fabrics, flowing silhouettes, and anything with ties.
- Hang to dry in the shade - Shade helps prevent fading, and hangers help garments keep their shape.
- Skip the dryer - Wonderful for towels. Less wonderful for your favorite RY & RU pieces.
- Iron or steam from the inside - A warm iron on the reverse side or a gentle steam is usually all that's needed.
Your clothes are made to be lived in, loved, and worn often. Care for them well, and they will stay part of your story for years to come.
Absolutely. Many of our pieces are designed to be worn by anyone who loves them. We focus on comfort, versatility, and relaxed silhouettes rather than strict categories. If you love it, wear it. Honestly, some of our favourite outfits happen when people completely ignore the label.
We love hearing creative ideas and partnership opportunities. If you'd like to discuss a collaboration, please contact hello@ryandru.com.au with a little information about yourself, your project, and why you'd like to work with us. If it sounds like a good fit, we will do our best to get in touch.
Unfortunately, we don't. Because our collections are produced in small quantities, we aren't able to reserve items or place them on hold. If you have found something you love, we'd hate for you to miss out.
At this stage, no. RY & RU is available exclusively through our online store and at selected markets around the Gold Coast, Queensland. Selling directly allows us to:
- Produce more thoughtfully
- Reduce waste
- Maintain closer relationships with our customers
- Put less pressure on our makers and production partners
It's a slower approach, but it feels right for us.
Some styles may return, while others are produced as part of a specific Chapter and may not be restocked. Because we work in small batches, some styles can take months to return and some may never return at all. Slow Fashion is exactly that: slow. From fabric sourcing to production, some pieces may take up to a year to find their way back.
If you have got your eye on something special, sign up for our newsletter. It is the best way to hear about restocks, new Chapters, and the occasional exciting surprise. Or if you love something, we recommend not waiting too long.
